Osteopathy

Listening with the hands.

"I believe that the human machine is the pharmacy of God and that all the cures of nature are to be found in it. It is not the duty of the machinist to cure disease, but to adjust a part of the whole system so that the rivers of life may flow and irrigate the parched fields"

(A.T. Still founder of osteopathy 1828.1917)

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is an independent, holistic form of medicine in which diagnosis and treatment are done with the hands. Osteopathy sees the body as a unit in which everything is contained in order to regulate and heal itself. It is about a healthy interplay between the musculoskeletal system, organs, bony structures, vascular system, fascia, cranio-sacral rhythm and the nervous system. When all these systems interact harmoniously, the body’s functions can run smoothly.

The aim of osteopathic treatments is to release blockages and tissue tension and thus restore mobility. Palpation is “listening” with the hands in order to establish a dialogue with the rhythms and movements of the various tissues. Osteopaths always search for the causes of complaints and do not limit themselves to treating individual symptoms.

I offer osteopathic sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at the Kornkreis practice in Klagenfurt.
The first session includes a detailed anamnesis, a manual examination and a customized treatment. Duration: 50 minutes.
